What's at stake
Prop 40 protects health care for low-income Californians while restoring education and food assistance funding gutted by Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill” by requiring California’s 225 billionaires pay a one-time 5% tax on their wealth.
Prop 3 permanently protects roughly $15 billion a year in school and health care funding by extending the existing high-income tax
Vote No on Prop 41 and Prop 42
Poison Pill Prop 41 would block new state taxes from being exempted from California’s spending cap and impose costly new audit requirements on programs funded by new or increased special taxes. Because Prop. 40’s billionaire tax is a special tax that is exempt from the spending cap, Prop. 41 could overturn it.
Poison Pill Prop 42 would permanently ban California from taxing ownership of financial assets, business interests, and other personal property. It would block the billionaire wealth tax and protect immense fortunes from taxation, leaving working families and ordinary taxpayers to pick up the tab for public goods and services.

The Tax the Ultra-Rich Now (TURN) bus tour hosted Berkeley City Councilmember Cecilia Lunaparra, organizers with Bay Rising and SEIU-UHW, and UC Berkeley students for an on-campus organizing event. Joined by Councilmember Lunaparra, TURN campaign manager Igor Volsky, SEIU-UHW member leader Lala Gonzalez and political organizer Joi Williams, and students from across campus rallying for Prop 40, speakers highlighted why young Californians voters are mobilizing in support of the billionaire wealth tax this November.

Earlier today, Tax the Ultra-Rich Now (TURN) and One Fair Wage Action, in partnership with the Alameda Living Wage For All coalition, hosted a “Server for an Hour” event at Calabash in Oakland, putting elected officials in the shoes of the restaurant workers who keep the Bay Area running. As part of TURN’s cross-state bus tour, the event featured Oakland City Councilmember Charlene Wang, Oakland City Council Candidate Nate Adams, Oakland School Board Members Valerie Bachelor and Patrice Berry, Berkeley City Councilmember Igor Tregub, and Emeryville City Councilmember Kalimah Priforce donning aprons and serving lunch.
Tax the Ultra-Rich Now Bus Tour Kicks Off at “Ballots Over Billionaires” with Sen. Sanders
Earlier today, at the “Ballots Over Billionaires” rally with Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) in San Francisco, Tax the Ultra-Rich Now (TURN) kicked off its statewide bus tour in support of Props 40 and 3. Running from October 3 to October 11, the tour builds on TURN’s six-figure campaign to rein in the outsized wealth and power California’s billionaires hold at the expense of working families.
